Tanaka cooked for us and the meal was very enjoyable. I think the restaurant is great overall. I have no reference, but my general feeling is the prices are for tourists and not what locals would pay for Kobe beef. I think some of the prices were more than our 3 Michelin star Kaiseki dinners, so it definitely raised my eyebrows a bit. However, when all is said and done, you will have a delicious meal, good service, and, if you're lucky, Tanaka, who has done this for 44 years, will be your master chef.
